Accelerator FAQ

Do you have an Allergen statement?

The Accelerator contains: Wheat grass whole leaf powder. It is not manufactured with milk, egg, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts or soy. It is produced in a GMP facility that processes some of these allergens. As part of GMP, quality procedures to prevent cross contamination and allergen contamination include separate warehousing, special air handling systems, physical separators, robust cleaning procedures, residue testing after cleaning, equipment surface swabs, etc. The standard operating procedures ensure compliance with current FDA guidelines and requirements for allergen control.

Why can't Baseline Nutritionals ship Accelerator to Australia?

Australian Customs has banned the import of products containing wheatgrass derived from certain strains of wheat. Accelerator does indeed contain wheatgrass, but from a different strain of wheat than is specifically cited in the regulation, and so technically do not fall under the ban. This product can potentially be released to Australian customers for personal consumption only if they successfully apply for an import permit. Unfortunately we are not in a position to help our Australian customers obtain that permit. The problem is that if we get involved, Australian Customs insists that we provide proprietary information about our manufacturing process and our ingredient sources, which for obvious reasons we cannot do.

Can I take Accelerator right before a workout? I like the pick-up it gives me.

Yes, many people like the long term energy boost they get from Accelerator before a sustained workout. Some people have even used it to sustain them while climbing mountains.

Can I mix Accelerator with milk for a meal replacement shake? Or, do you recommend soy milk?

Yes, if you drink either milk or soy milk, you can mix Accelerator with them as desired. However, keep in mind that Jon Barron has strong reservations about the use of both dairy and soy - particularly because of their tendency to promote allergies. If you're looking to increase the protein content of the Accelerator, try mixing it with Nutribody Protein instead.

Do I need to refrigerate the Accelerator or the Private Reserve Superfood?

Refrigeration of these weight management supplements is not required. Just keep them tightly closed and in a cool dry place. Think of them like flour. If you do keep the Accelerator and Private Reserve Superfood in the refrigerator, make sure that the lids are tightly closed at all times to be sure the contents remain completely dry.

I enjoy mixing Superfood with Accelerator for natural weight loss, is that ok or will that be too many calories?

Absolutely. Many people like to do the same.

For Accelerator, the Supplement Facts list 7.6g of stabilized rice bran, but less than 1g of fiber?

Perhaps the use of the word bran in the name "Stabilized Rice Bran" has confused you. Rice bran is not pure fiber. It is a remarkably complex food that contains fats, protein, vitamins, minerals, a ton of antioxidants, and--yes--fiber. But fiber makes up about 10% of the ingredient. It is used in Accelerator for its nutritional benefits, not as a fiber source.

Do you test the Accelerator for heavy metals?

We are proud to say the Baseline Nutritionals has been testing its Accelerator for heavy metal content for years. We test every batch of Accelerator with a third party, independent, ISO 17025 compliant or accredited lab. Test results show that we have a low heavy metal count for a product that contains rice bran. That is not an accident, it is by design. We use the best ingredients available.

Now, that said, it is important to note that as low as the levels are, all of the heavy metals in the Accelerator exist in what is known as an “organic form. This is: they are bound to the plant material itself and do not substantially release into the body. In that sense, they are very different from “inorganic” heavy metals as found in some drinking water, or fish, or dairy products, or sprayed on fruits as part of pesticides. Inorganic heavy metals do, in fact, readily release into the body. This difference between organic and inorganic heavy metals is a vital health distinction that even the FDA recognizes.

Is Glucotor a good companion for Accelerator? Doesn't it restrict carb absorption?

Glucotor v.2 doesn't restrict carb absorption. It assists in slowing it down, which helps lower the body's glycemic response. In fact, Accelerator also contains Banaba Leaf, as does Glucotor v.2, to assist in the process. Accelerator contains activated barley, an extremely slow absorbing carbohydrate -- again, for the same purpose. It wouldn't hurt to take Glucotor v.2 with either Accelerator or Private Reserve Superfood (particularly if you're using them in fruit smoothies). However, the real benefit is to use the Glucotor v.2 with your non-Accelerator/Superfood meals -- thus extending the benefit of slow absorption to all your meals.
